Nearly a Sacramento Sweep

NATIONAL LEAGUE
(WEEK 4 - Award Winners)

The Sacramento 66'ers nearly pull off a complete sweep for the week, they end up sweeping the two awards this week, and took 4 of 5 games from the Seattle Rainiers. This week's N.L. Player of the Week goes to first baseman Edwin Encarnacion. Encarnacion batted .357 (5-for-14), 3 HR, 9 RBI & 5 runs, while his teammate Sean Marshall wins the N.L. Pitcher of the Week. Marshall pitched 7 scoreless innings in relief, picking up two saves in the process, while striking out 6 batters (walking none), allowing only four hits for a 0.571 WHIP for the week.

The 66'ers are in a close division race with the Portland Microbrewers & King Road Kings. Sacramento hosts Portland next.

  • 3B-Adrian Beltre (URB) - .300 (6-for-20), HR, 6 RBI & 3 runs.
  • SP-Jarrod Parker (HAN) - 9 IP, SHO, 8 H, 8 K & 2 BB's.
  • SP-Brandon Morrow (T.C.) - 7 IP, W, 5 H, ER, 5 K & 2 BB.
  • SP-Jason Vargas (SEA) - 8 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 8 K (lowers ERA to 2.87).
  • 1B-Brandon Belt (T.C.) - .385 (5-for-13), HR, 6 RBI & 5 runs.
  • SP-Barry Zito (SAC) - 8 IP, 3 H, ER, 4 K & 4 BB, improving to 3-2 for the season.
  • DH-Kendrys Morales (SEA) - .385 (5-for-13), HR, 3 RBI & 2 runs.
  • OF-Xavier Paul (KING) - One game: 5-for-5, 4 doubles (single-game record), RBI, run & steal.
