The American League squad won the first All-Star Game last season, and have 21 1st-timers for the event. All 6 elected outfielders are newcomers, while the other outfielder Shane Victorino (elected for one of the 3 Commissioner-elect additions) returns for his second. Madison Bumgarner is the only pitcher (including relievers) to return for his 2nd All-Star Game, everyone else is newbies. Only one player returned to the starting lineup, and that was Buffalo's Miguel Cabrera.
